El 2014 es el año elegido por Eidos Montréal para el lanzamiento de Thief, cuarta entrega de la serie que prescinde de cualquier otro elemento que no sea el nombre de la franquicia en su título para reinventarse a sí misma en PlayStation 4, PC y ”otras consolas de nueva generación”. Esto confirma que el juego queda cancelado en PlayStation 3 y Xbox 360, por lo que será un título exclusivo de la siguiente generación de consolas.
Los primeros detalles oficiales sobre el juego, que se confirmó ayer, los pone sobre la mesa la revista Game Informer. Su protagonista será Garrett, héroe de la serie, quien tendrá que usar el sigilo evitando combates para sobrevivir.
El estudio está trabajando en un sistema de juego en el que combatir contra grupos de enemigos resulte complicado para los jugadores con la idea de potenciar el sigilo. Para ello, los enemigos conocerán el diseño de los niveles y sus escondites posibles.
Una de las armas claves de Garrett será el arco, que tendrá diferentes tipos de flechas como las “congelantes”, que servirán para apagar fuegos, o las de humo, para causar distracción y esquivar a los enemigos.
La inteligencia artificial estará potenciada para que los rivales del protagonista actúen de manera diferente y no por grupos, presentando comportamientos donde la improvisación de la IA termine haciendo que el jugador tenga que actuar.
El planteamiento de los escenarios se centrará en construir entornos abiertos y explorables, en los que existan “varias puertas” o puntos de entrada por habitación para aumentar las opciones jugables del título. En cuanto a extras, los jugadores podrán recolectar reliquias repartidas por los niveles que se usarán como decoración en la guarida del Garrett.
