Para todos aquellos que no conozcan la saga Carmageddon, básicamente se trata de unos juegos de carreras en las que teníamos que cumplir uno de los tres objetivos siguientes: Pasar por todos los checkpoints (lógico y normal), destrozar todos los coches rivales (bestial) o atropellar/aplastar/electrocutar/quemar a todo bicho viviente que pululara por el escenario (simplemente apoteósico). Por si no os habéis dado cuenta, soy un fanático de la saga. En su día me pasé Carmageddon, Carpocalypse Now y TDR 2000, los tres juegos publicados para PC. Cierto es que también salieron versiones para otras plataformas pero no me interesaron nunca porque a mi entender no superaban la experiencia de PC. Carmageddon 4 se anunció para el 2005, pero poco después SCi canceló el proyecto sin dar explicaciones. Después vino la compra por parte de Square Enix y nunca más se supo nada…hasta hace poco.
Ayer mientras navegaba un poco por la red, me encontré con una noticia en Vandal en la que mostraban las primeras imágenes de desarrollo del juego. En la web de Carmageddon ya nos avisan que dichas imágenes pertenecen a una fase temprana de desarrollo para que no nos asustemos.
Como podéis observar en la imagen, queda claro que estamos ante poco más que una fase preliminar. En cualquier caso el lanzamiento está previsto para el 2012 aunque aún sin fecha ni plataformas confirmadas, si bien es cierto que la versión para PC parece casi asegurada. También se sabe que se lanzará exclusivamente en formato digital, eso y poco más ya que el estudio Stainless filtra las noticias con cuentagotas.
Para acabar quiero compartir con vosotros una pequeña joyita que he encontrado por ahí, se trata de la versión gratuita de Carmageddon. El fichero que se descarga es una imagen para grabar en CD.
