Quinta entrega de la afamada saga de juegos sandbox de Rockstar Games. Con una atrevida nueva dirección en la libertad en mundo abierto, la narrativa, la jugabilidad basada en misiones y el multijugador online, Grand Theft Auto V se centra en la búsqueda del todopoderoso dinero en un reinventado Sur de California en la actualidad. Su salida está prevista para las plataformas PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 y Microsoft Windows. Nuestro compañero Lorenzo Gama nos adelantó algunos detalles, pero ahora os completamos la información con más rumores.
En las últimas semanas ha surgido un interesante rumor sobre Grand Theft Auto V, al que no daríamos demasiada importancia ni credibilidad si no fuera porque fue rápidamente borrado de los foros de la página web Gamespot donde fue publicitado. Según un usuario del portal que conocía a un antiguo desarrollador de Rockstar (Alex O’Dwyer) recientemente despedido por “mala conducta”, y el cual ha hecho gala de una poco probable ausencia de acuerdos de confidencialidad para filtrar los detalles más importantes sobre el juego.

Según la fuente el protagonista de la nueva entrega es Albert de Silva, un criminal con raíces hispanas y miembro de una banda de Vice City que se instala en Los Santos con su hijo Kevin que, en palabras de la filtración, tiene un estereotipo de jugador de Call of Duty y que, además, “es vago, inútil y que lanza insultos racistas a través de internet”.
El mapa del juego será cinco veces más grande que el de GTA IV, y estará dividido en tres partes con la de la propia ciudad de Los Santos ocupando algo más de la mitad del territorio. Habrá aviones como ya se adelantó, y habrá una importante variedad de aeroplanos, coches y armas que podremos personalizar a nuestro gusto.
El multijugador contará con soporte para hasta treinta y dos usuarios y el título aparecería en octubre de 2012 con una demo jugable en el E3 de este año. En este modo, los jugadores formarían pandillas de gangsters, y cuyo objetivo sería la de aumentar su rango de reputación para poder controlar cada vez más territorios, a través de actos delictivos en grupo e individual.
Se han adelantado detalles curiosos como el hecho de que el protagonista podrá consumir drogas y que éstas afectarán al juego directamente. También se iniciará tu búsqueda en caso que sobrepases el límite de velocidad al volante o si tienes cualquier tipo de percance con el coche.
En cuanto al logotipo, el diseño del V (cinco) parece estar basado en los antiguos billetes de dólar, como uno de 1899 que muestra el mismo patrón de dibujo. Esto pudo ser un indicativo de que la siguiente entrega tendría conexiones con el dinero (blanqueo, tráfico y apuestas ilegales) pudiendo ubicarse en Las Venturas (casinos) o Washington D.C., entre otros. Pero finalmente no ha sido así.
El pasado 3 de noviembre, tras haber publicado el tráiler el día anterior, Rockstar Games (y en mayor medida su compañía propietaria, Take-Two) realizó el anuncio oficial del juego. Entre otros detalles, confirmó oficialmente que la única localización del juego sería Los Santos (ya visto en el tráiler) en detrimento de una posible recreación completa del estado de San Andreas ofrecido en la tercera generación.

Ojalá Rockstar sea capaz de trasladar a este GTA V todo lo que hizo grande al inolvidable Red Dead Redemption.
Se centrarán más bien en la sensación que nos dejó San Andreas. Pero si, esperemos que nos deje ese sabor de boca que nos brindó Red Dead
